DeSantis is as dumb as a stump if he thinks they won’t persecute and prosecute him in the future. His half-assed, watered-down statement won’t protect him.

Quite a few people here seem to believe one of two things; a) the Deep State would never go after DeSantis the way they have Trump or b) DeSantis would be able to easily deal with it if they did.

Exactly. IMO, Trump’s four greatest accomplishments were:
He made us fuel independent.
He got the economy rocking — twice.
He shut down the invasion at the border.
He kept us out of wars so our young people weren’t being killed to help countries that hate us.
DeSantis’ biggest supporters are in the Military Industrial Complex. Our kids will be dying all over the world just to increase bank accounts of those people. So, yes, “Bush Light”, as you say. Maybe you could even drop the “Light”.
