Calls are growing for the arrest of a woman accused of shooting dead her mother-of-four neighbor after she complained about the victim's children playing outside.
The children of Ajike 'AJ' Owens were playing in a field near an apartment complex in Ocala, Florida, on Friday when her neighbor 'began yelling at them to get off her land and calling them racial slurs', renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump said.
The children then accidentally left an iPad behind after leaving the field, Crump explained, before going back to fetch it.
But the neighbor, a 58-year-old white woman, who was not named, had taken the iPad and threw it at one of Ms Owens' children, hitting the boy and cracking the screen, the attorney said.
The mother-of-four then marched across the street to speak with the neighbor after hearing of the incident.
The neighbor fired through the door, shooting Ms Owens. She later died at hospital from her injuries.
Police have so far made no arrests following Ms Owen's death. Although Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods has confirmed police know the identity of the shooter, he said authorities are working to determine what role the state's 'stand your ground' law might play in the incident.
Under Florida's 'stand your ground' law, people are essentially permitted to use deadly force if they feel their lives are in danger.

So they have to put “black” in the title!! ANY mother who is killed is an issue — red, yellow, black, white.
Do these folks (black women) ever do anything quietly? Do they ever take breath and act civilized if the face of drama? Not often.
From the article it is not clear that it was an IPad; it may have been roller skates.
That may not make a difference - but it does indicate there are conflicting accounts of what happened.
I would not assume that Ben Crump is always careful with the facts.
I found the sequence puzzling. It is either poor reporting, or sensationalist race-baiting reporting.
I don’t think there is another option, and given the tenor of the entire article, it sounds like sensationalist race-baiting reporting.
How juicy it must be to the editors at The Daily Mail: a racist, white woman in the gun crazy America shooting a defenseless black woman whose children were the subjects of an unwarranted physical and racist assualt.
The whole thing is a shame and a tragedy from all sides. The apparent goal of the newspapers and involved attorney is to inflame the sitation to get the most mileage out of it.

There is not only the stand your ground .aw, there is also the castle doctrine.
Anyone whose spent a considerable amount of time around modern black women knows exactly what happened here. Feral children in a neighbor’s yard acting like animals as they are want to do in public. Neighbor has enough and tells them to get out of the yard. Mama feels that her kids have been “disrespected” and storms across the street banging on doors and windows trying to get the neighbor to come out. Neighbor shoots Mother...Ben Crump being involved makes this scenario much more likely than the one described.
She was only doing what Biden recommended in such a situation.

probably a long history of issues between the two, but still no excuse. Cops should have been called.
In my opinion, if the child had been struck in the head, injuring the child and breaking the device, I think nearly any mother would have gone over there to demand an explanation.
However, after the “march” across the road, that is where reality may diverge.
I suspect that picture of the deceased mother is as flattering to her as the picture of young Trayvon Martin, that was a picture of a totally nice looking 14 year old innocent kid who was still into kids cartoons, not someone like the physically large, hoodie-wearing pre-man who jumped on the unsuspecting Zimmerman and did an “MMA-style” beatdown on him.
It doesn’t convey the large physical stature of the woman, the enraged look on her face, nor the things she was shouting at the top of her lungs as she pounded on the door or the walls of the house (if that is what she did, which at least some accounts the police heard seem to indicate)
Yep, there is more to this story! Where is the 911 call? The corrupt media is framing this as crazy woman shoots unarmed black woman through door. How about they gather all of the facts and report what happened. Statements from the attorneys are not facts!
Only if the shooter violated the law.

Of course there is. I’ve seen video of how some people act when they feel they have been “disrespected”. I suspect the woman who shot actually feared for her life. I also suspect the children weren’t just “playing” in the field as would delightfully be depicted in a Normam Rockwell painting.
If charged, that will probably be the defense. I wouldn’t want my freedom dependent on it being a new situation. Not much information here, but it’s tough to excuse firing through the door unless a real effort to break the door down was present, preferably on video. My guess police aren’t waiting because of stand your ground, rather to decide just what to charge her with.
If not, lock her up! But if the family were little terrorizers, the story may take a different turn.
