I thought that’s what you’re supposed to do in a primary against your main competitor.

Once upon a time in politics, the candidates boasted their achievements, told what their plans were if elected, and generally built up themselves.

If a person liked what they heard, they voted for the one over the other.

Nowadays, politics is about belittling your opponent, dirty trick ops, and the like.

Call me old-fashioned...

Campaigns have always been nasty, this is nothing.

The term originally comes from a 19th century novel by the writer Finley Peter Dunne. One of Dunne’s characters is an Irish American named Mr. Dooley, who likes to sit in his favorite Chicago bar and talk about politics. The full quote from Mr. Dooley reads, “Sure, politics ain’t bean-bag. ‘Tis a man’s game, an’ women, childer, cripples an’ prohybitionists’d do well to keep out iv it.”

I'd have to call you really really really old fashioned. What you think politics is, doesn't exist. Where do you people come up with this stuff?
