I guess one has to blame something or someone when they simply don’t have it. When she first stepped onto the tennis scene, she was being touted as the next Serena Williams. (They never say Steffi Graf, Maria Sharapova, Chris Everet, Iga Swiatek, Ash Barty, etc). She has won two slams, but most of her career has been hum-drum, getting beaten in early rounds. In 2019 she was ranked #3, ended 2022 at 64 and is currently 30th in the world. Every black female tennis player has been “the next Serena Williams” and it hasn’t happened yet.
Probably getting a lot of social media insults, a lot of which are likely race-related. One of the reasons Yahoo finally dropped the comments from their stories is that anytime they ran a story about Serena Williams, hundreds of commenters would show up calling her every racist name imaginable.
She just needs to stay off the social media.
