California has mandated that all new homes built are to be all-electric, and starting in 2030, all new home appliances will be electric. I expect that Washington will soon follow California's lead of all-electric homes and appliances. In addition, Washington has mandated that fifty percent of new automobiles are to be electric. Sacramento and Washington Democrats possess the power to enact these mandates but cannot, with a pen stroke, rebuild America's electrical grid.
American families have met their energy needs for over a hundred years with electricity, gas, and gasoline. Now families are being forced to depend solely on electric utilities to turn on their lights, cook meals, heat their homes, and fuel their automobiles. That is a true dream for climate activists but a nightmare in today's world of rolling blackouts.
What happens when a natural disaster destroys a region's electrical infrastructure? Restoring electricity to a community can take weeks to months. During this time, families will be left cold and hungry in a dark house and unable to drive to safety.
There is more to an all-electric home than just more electrical outlets. A typical twelve-hundred–sq. ft. home with gas heat, stove, and water heater needs a 100-amp electrical service. That same home but with electric heat, stove, and water heater will need a 200-amp service. An level-two electrical vehicle charging station (there are levels: one is too slow, two is just right for most drivers, and three is too much) will need an additional 50 to 100 amps — therefore, a 200- to 300-amp service.
The cost increase for a new twelve-hundred-square-foot home with a 200-amp in lieu of a 100-amp electrical service would be approximately $6,500, and eliminating the gas piping would save approximately $2,500. However, modifying a mixed-energy home to an all-electric would cost approximately $15,000.

The utilities have no say, these days. They have completely lost all influence since the Grey Davis crisis of 2000-2001.
The state showed it could effectively eliminate all their equity, and they had no recourse.
At this point they are just government puppets.
Are you talking about the increased current draw heating the supply wires which increases their resistance? If so, then that makes sense.
On the other hand, if you are talking about adding more houses on the grid increasing resistance then you have it backwards. Since the houses would be wired in parallel, the total resistance would drop as you added more. Once you add too many houses then either power company breakers would trip or they would be unable to maintain the voltage and would get brown-outs.
who, in their right mind, would place all their energy eggs in an ELECTRIC basket?
it’s sooooo stupid.
Further proof that politicians lack critical thinking skills.
Gee, who would have predicted this?
(Only EVERYONE).
They know what they’re doing.
It’s all by design.
” That is a true dream for climate activists but a nightmare in today’s world of rolling blackouts.”
And a dream come true for government that will have the capability to control most everything about your life.
A “kill switch” effectively.
Has anyone commented “no sh*t Sherlock” yet?
Because that is my response.
That’s the plan! They will live in mansions with heat, AC, light, and rich foods, while we shiver in the cold and dark eating bugs. All to save humanity of course!
And many of the transformers are made in China.
Probably with a remotely operated “off” button...
Common sense shows that the closer an appliance is to ‘fire’ the more efficient it is.
Gas cooking stoves, gas heaters, gas wtr heaters , all LNG type gas.
Then gasoline to run cars.
Electricity has to be created by burning LNG or Propane, coal, wood, or Nuclear.
That extra step makes their all-electric world impossible to maintain.
Which is all part of their plan.
It’s gonna be Mad Max Thunderdome world.
Green New Deal is a train wreck idea.
Yup
“nuclear power... French.”
A very large percentage of French nuclear reactors are not in service from what I’ve read.
That makes too much sense.
And it would make it too easier for us lower class “citizens” to survive comfortably.
Liquid Nat Gas Nuke energy and nitro cells very low polluting and highly efficient.
And MORE green than their All Elec plan!
Yep
They are bring Hell to the whole country.
God is allowing their anti God agenda to flourish, hoping the coming total chaos will wake up Christians.
A kilowatt hour will power a Tesla for about three miles.
I have 125 Amp Service. I’m not sure if that is 240 volts via two lines or two 120 volt lines.
I think that works out to be about 40 miles per hour of electricity. It might be 80 miles per hour of electricity.
An EV would be the only additional major load.
No, I think you’ve got that backwards.
Resistance is a physical property of any given conductor, determined by material and geometry. If you want a cable to have less resistance for a given length, for example, you must increase its cross section. Or use copper instead of aluminium, silver instead of copper (specific resistivity of these metals decreases in that order).
For any given conductor, if you want more current to flow, you MUST increase the voltage.
You must decrease the resistivity of the whole grid to have more current flow at the same given voltage. EVERY conductor (cable) in the whole grid must be upgraded accordingly. Good luck with that.
Still over 70% of French electric generation is nuke.
Gas and “renewables” slightly reduced the nuke share since the 1990s. But Macron says more nuke is coming.
Unfortunately, that's only about half the problem. Our current power grid, carrying this power, is already overloaded in many areas, and cannot carry any more power without significant upgraded capacity. That actually may be more difficult than building new nuclear capacity.
Of course they can’t and won’t.
It’s all part of the plan to destroy the US and middle class.
This is intentional. Most of California’s coastal elite live near the ocean . Many homes there don’t even have AC and heating because they don’t need it.
