Big picture, long term; if all of this nonsense about sports leads to society deciding that sports and the money poured into them needs to be scaled back, that could be a very good thing.

It's one thing to have society sponsor sporting events now and then, but paying huge salaries to athletes, trashing something like the Olympic ideals to allow professionals into amateur games, spending public money to build sport stadiums, pretending that Lia Thomas is a girl, and so on; maybe it's time to downplay the importance of sports in general.
