At least she outlived Ike.
I don’t think blacks liked her. Appeal was mainly to whites. Check the pics and film-not that there is any such music. George Benson too. Then there’s Sammy Davis, Jr.
Plays into whites wanting to overdo the worship over guilt whether it’s her or someone like Obama.

I always liked Tina Turner. She seemed like a real person, not some fake diva. I have nothing but respect for a woman with such spirit. I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s when her music was popular. That was her post Ike career. RIP Tina Turner.

I recall an interview she did, possibly Oprah She was as asked about race/racism. She responded “I don’t have time for that in my life”.

What a woman! We saw her in concert twice. High energy and she’s 12 years older than me!
The concerts were a few years apart but they basically had the same schedule of songs. She always did Proud Mary at the END of the concert. The most energetic song any performer has ever done! After a concert of close to 1 1/2 hours she hits you with that high octane performance. I envied her energy and beautiful legs. I’m a woman but I know perfection when I see it :-) I would never have legs like those :-)

I was never much of a fan of Tina Turners. To be clear, I didn’t like her nor did I dislike her in terms of her music.
But, I always admired her for staying the hell out of politics.

One of the greats. She spent some time in East St. Louis, and I grew up outside there, so her songs always remind me of the place and time — in a good way.
Absolutely! She and Ike played the Club Imperial on a regular basis. One of the best dance clubs ever!
