Now, when Russia is gobbling up sovereign nations it vowed to protect, for the same reasons Hitler invaded Czechoslovokia and Austria, we are told, for the same reasons, it is perfectly correct for Russia to do so.
But..but... there are Russian speakers in Ukraine! Just like there were German speakers in Czechoslovakia.

Russia has no interest in gobbling up other countries even if they could, and it’s obvious they’re not up to it anyway. I know the neocons are pushing this line, but sorry, that dog won’t hunt. Putin is hardly Mr. Nice Guy, but Hitler he ain’t. Nor is Russia the Germany of the latter 1930s.
