I would be more inclined to believe Michelle Obama could accept such a placeholder role. Michelle could ‘get her feet wet’ in this sort of Training Wheels kind of position without risking too much personal credibilty.
I would be quite surprised that Oprah chose to deal with all the fuss, disruption and mandatory diplomacy of any political job, even one just for the summer. Oprah doesn’t need politics per se to exercise her celebrity powers.
Appointed, not voted into office.
Neither Michelle or Oprah want to actually show up to work everyday for a senator salary when they can do one speech and make big bucks. Michelle Obama is not that ambitious. The Obama group is already running things.
Michelle “Michael” Obama doesn’t have the slightest connection to California as far as I know. Not that that matters these days...
She doesn’t reside in California
I thought the Obamas lived mostly out of Mass? If so, Michelle isn’t likely to be the ‘one’.
On Oprah, I doubt if she’s worked more than 10 hours a week in the past decade.
I’m more likely to believe that Harris is offered the seat, and leaves the VP position for Biden to fill with Governor Newsom of California.
Good choice. Oprah could end her career in a good way—as long as she keeps her nose clean and votes the way she is told.
