I would like to see an explanation for that as well. They charged him with falsifying documents but I thought it had to be in the furtherance of another crime to be a felony.
It's a bullshit process crime.
Remember Martha Stewart? Did time for insider trading? Right?
WRONG!!!
The feds ended up with no evidence that she had committed insider trading.
They got a conviction for lying to Federal Investigators.
What was the "lie"?
Denying that she had committed insider trading.
Ain't that a crock ...
But it gives her some street cred with Snoop ... so there's that. ;'}
The argument they are trying to make is that the falsification of records was to hide an illegal campaign contribution. Unfortunately for them, the FEC already looked at this and said no campaign violation occurred. So the prosecutor is probably going to try to argue that even if the FEC didn’t charge him with a federal violation that he violated state campaign finance laws. U fortunately for them again, since this Trump was running for federal office, state laws would not apply.
