Ron DeSantis is facing criticism for campaigning for himself in Iowa instead of helping out his endorsee in Jacksonville.
Democrats scored a major upset over Republicans in Tuesday’s Jacksonville Mayor race. Ron DeSantis-endorsed Daniel Davis lost to Democrat Donna Deegan. DeSantis is facing mounting criticism for spending the weekend before Jacksonville’s election traveling to Iowa to campaign for himself.
In March, DeSantis released a statement that read, “I am proud to endorse Daniel Davis for Jacksonville mayor because I trust him to fight for Jacksonville’s hardworking families, and I know he will stand with the city’s brave men and women in law enforcement,”
DeSantis chose to spend the final weekend before Florida’s election in Iowa campaigning for himself despite the fact that Florida Democrats made the Jacksonville Mayors race their top priority.
While in Iowa, DeSantis bragged to GOP voters about his ability to create a winning culture. Following Tuesday’s election loss, GOP voters are criticizing DeSantis for his winning culture remarks.
Donald Trump criticized DeSantis for the loss in Florida, writing on TruthSocial, “Wow! In a big upset, the DeSanctimonious backed Republican candidate for Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, LOST. This is a shocker. If they would have asked me to Endorse, he would have won, easily. Too proud to do so. Fools! This is a BIG LOSS for the Republican Party. Remember, “Rob” only won because of me!!!”
Trump also pointed out DeSantis’ failures in Florida and Kentucky, writing on TruthSocial “Congratulations to a “star” in Kentucky, Danial Cameron, who easily won the Republican Nomination for Governor. He had my Complete and Total Endorsement. The DeSanctimonious backed candidate came in a DISTANT third. Ron’s magic is GONE! He also lost, shockingly, in Jacksonville last night (Mayor).”
Trump also wrote on TruthSocial “DeSanctimonious lost Jacksonville and Kentucky last night. Not good!!!”
Ron DeSantis is expected to announce a run for president soon despite his mounting losses and falling poll numbers.

DeSantis believes his work in Florida is done.
Now he’s moving forward towards bigger and better goals.
Florida is now in his rear mirror.

Meatball abandoned the GOP Nominee for Mayor in FLA while campaigning
for himself in Iowa.
No wonder most of the FLA Congressional Delegation Supports Trump.

Why didn’t Trump get involved before it was too late? Jacksonville is not where he lives, but Florida is his state.
Trump is a leader; he shouldn’t be so shy about getting his name out there and helping the larger cause.
Trump needs to lean forward a little more when he sees something going in the wrong direction.

Residents of Jacksonville are NOT HAPPY about Ron DeSantis losing the mayoral race for Republicans by not showing up to campaign ONE time for the Republican candidate in FL’s biggest city. Ron failed the people of Jacksonville and the people of Florida because of his own selfish…Can't Blame Ron for not going to Jacksonville.. He was busy in Iowa flipping burgers.

I WISH DeSantis -- who has
plenty of years left to run for President, would concentrate on keeping Florida sane, and a role model for other states, until the end of his term.
This "rush to run" by so many politicians seems to me a result of the media's juvenile "Presidential obsession." of the past several years. Anyone who does anything remotely competent on a national level will quickly find a microphone shoved in their face, behind which is some clueless reporterette excitedly saying, "The way you rescued that cat from the tree has touched the hearts of our viewers! I have to ask ... Do you have presidential aspirations? There's some talk that you have already set up an exploratory committee! It's so exciting!"

He should have served out his term and threw his hat in the ring in 2028. He blew it.

Lets not forget that DeSantis does not believe that significant vote fraud exists. Let alone any organized version of it. He believes that Trump is full of poop on the matter. Somehow Florida has been tricked into believing that their voting is secure. I would not count on it.

Why didn’t Trump endorse the candidate - too proud? Had to be asked to do the right thing?
I have endorsed Trump twice and no one asked me.
And I’ve never claimed that Trump won because I endorsed him.

Well he - DeSantis - did win the governorship with about 60 percent of the vote.
Don't forget, not every candidate that's endorsed by another candidate wins every time.
That is why you don't refer to Senator Herschel Walker.
To: jeffersondem
Ron is 0-2 for Endorsements so far.
The GOP Nominee for Mayor in HIS own State.
And an endorsement in a Primary for Governor in KY.
Where did that 60% who voted for his re-election go
for that Mayor’s race?

The guy didn't want Trump's endorsement. On what planet does a politician give an endorsement to a candidate that doesn't want it.
To: jeffersondem
That is why you don't refer to Senator Herschel Walker. DeSantis didn't endorse Walker and the RINOs trashed Walker all before the election. Those things hurt Walker.
They didn't do that for the good of the party or the good of the country.
They did that because they want to Get Trump...at all costs.
To: jeffersondem; All
Trump isn’t the Govenor of Florida, Trump has made it clear that he is running for, and wants to win, the office of the Presidency. Mr. 8th day, is pretending he’s not running and is focusing on Florida. If he doesn’t want to be called out then maybe he should stop taking his potential supporters for idiots and announce his intentions. He won’t because he’s a typical politician playing the games typical politicians play. If he wins, there is no reason to expect he won’t just be a typical politician which is why no one is really worried about his Presidency. I don’t care who is more likely to win a general election, I care whos more likely to have a meaningful Presidency and that’s Trump, no doubts. Mo and Biden are cut from the the cloth.

He should have served out his term
Florida was/is just a stepping stone, just like congress was one before that, and he was constantly on FOX trying to raise his popularity and name recognition.
He continues with the name recognition thing, going all over the country with speeches and book signing and campaign stops.
What he needs now is for CNN and MSNBC and ABC/CBS/NBC to give him interviews, where he will, for certain, take direct and back-handed shots at Trump.
DeSantis was lucky that he had weak opponents both times that he ran for Florida governor. Florida actually didn't need him since it was doing okay without him, but Floridians also knew that going with a democrat would have been disastrous for the state.
