‘Fools!’: Donald Trump blames Ron DeSantis for Democrat winning Jax mayoral race

'Ron’s magic is GONE!' Former President Donald Trump is weighing in on the Jacksonville mayoral race, which saw a Democrat win just months after Republicans carried the state handily.

On Truth Social, Trump said Republican Daniel Davis’ “shocker” loss to Democrat Donna Deegan came down to Team Davis courting Ron DeSantis’ endorsement instead of that of the former President.

“In a big upset, the DeSanctimonious backed Republican candidate for Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, LOST. This is a shocker. If they would have asked me to Endorse, he would have won, easily. Too proud to do so,” Trump said.

“Fools! This is a BIG LOSS for the Republican Party,” Trump added. “Remember, ‘Rob’ only won because of me!!!”

In a follow-up post, Trump doubled down.

“Ron’s magic is GONE! He also lost, shockingly, in Jacksonville last night (Mayor).”

DeSantis endorsed Davis after the First Election in March, which saw Davis rebuff three other Republican candidates to emerge into the General Election with roughly a quarter of the vote, 15 points behind first-place Deegan.

Jacksonville has a voter registration advantage for Democrats, with 40% of the electorate registered Democrat and just 35% Republican, according to the most recent L2 voter data. But Republicans, as typically happens in local elections, won the turnout battle Tuesday, with a 7,100-vote advantage translating to an R+3.25 map.

Yet despite the GOP turnout advantage, it was clear that crossover Republicans and no-party voters turned out for Deegan, with the DeSantis endorsement apparently not being a factor to unify the party. Word was that the DeSantis endorsement was contingent on Davis not chasing Trump’s backing, in yet another sign of Republicans being compelled to pick sides.

DeSantis offered paper endorsements, but never came to Jacksonville to help the candidates he backed. Nor did he offer a robocall or other material support.

Davis wasn’t the only DeSantis-endorsed loser Tuesday.

Property Appraiser candidate Jason Fischer touted his DeSantis endorsement ahead of the March election, which gave him a ticket to the May runoff. But he lost to Democrat Joyce Morgan.

It's about winning – and producing results. That's what Ron DeSantis does, and that's why so many are supporting him for president!

"Our Rod DeSanctus voters just don't answer polls."

Trump was throwing spitballs way early into this game and got this whole stupid "Trump vs. DeSantis' crapshow rolling.

It was actually started by Richard Barris and Paul Ryan when they floated a rumor about DeSantis meeting with money people that hate Trump. DeSantis and Trump were fine until then. Trump, and many others, fell for it and here we are. I guess Ryan wins this round ... so far ...

"I live in Jacksonville and Trump is wrong on this one, the Democrat ran a good campaign and the Republicans savaged each other and divided the party

BTW, in 2016 Hillary defeated Trump in Jacksonville,"

You mean, kind of like they did here and are still doing, pretty much daily. And pointing out that Jacksonville might be a blue city will fall on deaf 'ears' among those same ""Republicans"". It's a pattern.

Don't confuse them with facts.

Trump can never be wrong. Trump can never fail.

The Dear Leader can only be failed by those of us who don't love him enough

That was November 2022. Many events happened prior to that. Ron has been running against Trump since the fall of 2021. It has just become more obvious in recent months.

A form of Desantis Derangement Syndrome seems to apply to Trump, though I think Desantis should sit this election out.

But DeSantis 2 days ago: GOP ‘Must Reject the Culture of Losing,’ No More ‘Excuses’

So which is it, winning or losing? Excuses or no more excuses?

How can you flame out when you never actually flamed in? (asking for a friend of a friend)

“Trump has always picked fools and idiots.”

Trump picked, saved DeSantis. So you think DeSantis is a fool, too?

The GOP LOST for three reasons. The bimbos want abortion on demand, umber one. Two, the dems ran an anti corruption message mostly over the failed sale of utility. Three gop primary had way too many candidates splitting funds before main election. 4 dem Deegan who keeps eye on ball to be a senator in a weak dem state is media darling having been a news reader before turning pol. Lastly only gop state official I saw supporting incumbent was Rick Scott our senator. Jax gets what they deserve, a womyn’s rights first person. At least she is not a minority.

Maybe it’s all part of that 4 level chess I keep hearing about. I voted for Trump but I think he is really not helping himself with these attacks.

That’s a fact, the Trump Sycophants as I call them will come after you if they perceive the slightest lack of support, because only Trump can save this country.

I’ve consistently said I will vote for Trump if he’s the nominee.

If it’s true that Trump is the one and only person who can save this country then we have already lost because Trump alone can’t save this country in 4 years, which is all he would have assuming he won.

DeSantis is right, as in Duval County, FL is Leaning liberal. In the last Presidential election, Duval county flipped Democratic, 51.1% to 47.3%.

Also, Trump did not pick Fauci, to show how stupid you are, and Giuliani is a very accomplished leader.

Also, the Senate picked Barr, and the little snake Sessions got in by stealth.
