Target (TGT) has become a target for major thefts, and it's taking a huge chunk out of profits.
The retailer estimated in its earnings release Wednesday that inventory shrinkage — mostly the theft of merchandise — would clip profits by a whopping $500 million this year. Factoring in an about $700 million profit hit from inventory shrinkage in 2022, Target is on pace to see $1.2 billion in profits go up in smoke, due primarily to organized retail crime.
Target Chairman and CEO Brian Cornell says the problem is getting worse, is nationwide, and across various merchandise departments.
"The unfortunate fact is violent incidents are increasing at our stores and across the entire retail industry. And when products are stolen, simply put they are no longer available for guests who depend on them," Cornell said on a call with reporters.

Target is headquartered in the Minneapolis area.

The thing that made me laugh was during some riot somewhere, a Target was being stripped. It was funny to me because Target advertisements are specifically minority driven. I haven’t seen a white adult mail in a Target ad in a very long time.
So I have no sympathy for them.

Target was the fire store to announce men could share bathrooms with your wives EVs, daughters and mothers. Every time I hear someone from my church talk about going to target I cringe.
So it seems like chickens are coming home to roost.
Talk about a lack of self-awareness! They support every insane liberal cause under the sun. They probably support defunding police, reparations, and making shoplifting under $900 a misdemeanor. They are getting exactly what they asked for and richly deserve. Did they honestly think all those anti-civilization, “progressive” efforts would NOT redound on them?

They were the first major retailer to endorse men entering the girls restrooms.

It’s as if they have a big target 🎯 painted on their stores.
At that rate, customers might as well shop online and avoid a trip to pick up their purchases.
These stores need to go to the Sam's Club and Costco model where one has to be a member to shop there. Anyone not a member would be criminally trespassing.

I feel the same way. I haven’t been into one of their stores in years.
