That’s not new in education.
Me pappy, now retired, said he was in line to take the head basketball coach position at his HS. About a year before the then current coach was to retire they started busing in black inner city kids. The new head coach chosen and it was a black guy and dad went to the principal and asked why the change was made and he wasnt even made aware of the change. The principal told the AD who was there to leave and in private said it was because they wanted a black coach to support the new racial changes in the school (forced busing BTW).
This would have been on the early 70s.
In Alabama they average your last five years of salary to determine your retirement. If New Jersey is similar then he wants a raise in his last year’s before retirement. We know when teachers are about to retire, they move into the administrative jobs that pay more.
you may want to reread. His attorny said what you seem to believe (from the wording of your comment) the educator said.
