Because Trump is not a serious contender anymore. He is appealing to a shrinking base and doing nothing to recover from 2018, 2020, and 2022 election deficits. He could walk to the nomination and be spending all this time appealing to the voters who left him, but instead fully invested in appealing just to his core voters hoping they don’t abandon him for a superior candidate. Desantis brings all the policy advantages Trump does and none of the baggage. Voters are going to quickly realize that after he officially is running.

Trump and his fans are acting like it is the 2016 election and not 2024. Calling the Governor ‘Rob’ repeatedly is just plain stupid.

Isn't DeSantis the guy who promised he would serve out his term as Governor? Starting a presidential run with a lie isn't the best start. But, that is what I would expect from Bush 3.0.

The facts on the ground say differently. Trump is by far, the leading contender in the GOP primary race. He still fills stadiums with loyal followers where ever he goes. Fabricating talking points just because you like the way they sound, is not a good look.
