No word about Neely's drug levels? If it was fentanyl and Neely had a bad heart, he would be extremely vulnerable to death as a result of respiratory depression. Death from a chokehold would be magnified by the fentanyl. Actually all one had to do is tackle Neely and knock the wind out of him and that would have triggered heart failure.
An example of respiratory depression is commotio cordis (the wind knocked out of one). An athlete gets hit in the chest with the ball and collapses, suffering sudden cardiac arrest. Without immediate care, the athlete will die. Instead of being a Marine, Daniel Penny could have been a football player. What would have happened if Penny tackled poor Neely?
Does one have to do a medical test for fentanyl to defend oneself and others? Are the public so stupid they have no clue about the effects of these opioids on respiration and exactly why such drugs kill?
