“My ancestors paid in full at Andersonville!”
One of my ancestors was wounded and died in Andersonville, and I am a direct descendent from one of his survivors.
Back in the 60’s my folks did a family tree. One line had 5 brothers who served. Two died at second battle of the Wilderness, another captured and died at Andersonville .Of the two who survived one was a direct ancestor.
Read the book when I was in middle school. A horrible place, it’s said Donaldson was near as bad.
