I was riding the bus Saturday afternoon. Guy sitting in the back starts yelling, Jim, insert the chip in my back. Jim, insert the chip in my chin, Jim insert the chip in my head.
Then the guy got pissed at this imaginary Jim guy and started swearing about how he is going to beat the crap out of Jim and told what he is told.
Not fun.
Anyone who reports on the “relative safety” of any form of public transportation should be REQUIRED to ride for 60 days before writing anything about it. Every. Single. Day. Period.
Journalism professor. It figures.
About 4 years ago my wife and two of her friends took a girl’s weekend in NYC. While on the subway a homeless woman literally dropped her pants and took a shit, on the floor, in front of a car full of passengers.
And this was before COVID. Cannot even imagine the freakshow that public transit must currently be in NYC.
Public transportation in New York and everywhere else that is “public” has degraded to the point where it is dangerous. The violent criminals are in control, and the democrat politicians choose to let them remain in control, scorning the normal people who actually do something useful with their lives.
I can only hope this idiot finds out for herself how “safe” the subways are.
Neo conservatives are liberals who got mugged. Violence isn’t a problem until it happens to her. Liberals are defective units. They are born without an empathy gene.
My daughter lives in Manhattan in a tiny apartment. One time we went to visit and stayed in a nearby hotel. I would go outside to smoke. One crazy looking guy came up and asked for a smoke to which I said no. He started screaming and cursing me out. I thought it was going to get real ugly. Fortunately, I backed away and escaped into the hotel. The moral of the story is don’t smoke on the street in NYC unless you plan on handing them out.
“I’ve safely ridden the subway for 23 years”
And she’s ‘never’ had a problem... WTF?
I’ve never been to NY City but I have visited Canada’s largest city, Toronto, for a week and rode the subway there... Toronto is ten times safer than New York and riding the subway there was edgy at best. They typically have a couple of dozen random attacks on Toronto’s transit system every year, including one women who was set on fire just recently by some lunatic after they sprayed her with lighter fluid.
Riding a subway in any big city requires vigilance and caution.
Spiers started to work in journalism as the founding editor of Gawker.com and later became a contributing writer and editor at New York magazine. She has written for The New York Times, Salon, Fortune, Fast Company and The New York Post, among other publications, and was an early blogger at GNXP.[2]
It fails to mention that she also writes for Slate as their “paydirt columnist”.
We can only hope she gets beaten and robbed by some of the orcs.
She's certainly witnessed others threatened, even from herself as one of the perpetrators - hence the blindness to it.
So many bimbos promoted based on what they don’t have between their legs...
