Twenty-two days before his assassination, John F. Kennedy signed the most important piece of legislation of his presidency – the Community Mental Health Act.
The act provided federal funding for mental health and research facilities across America. It fueled the United States’ de-institutionalization movement, social and medical reform that shut down “insane asylums” and treated the mentally ill with psychiatric drugs.
The Community Mental Health Act, signed on Halloween 1963, arguably stands as the Emancipation Proclamation for the mentally ill.
I know this because yesterday a Twitter user sent me down a mental health rabbit hole with a single tweet.
“US population 1955: 161 million US population 2023: 332 million
1955 mental asylum population: 559k 2023 mental asylum population: 35k
This is the real crisis”

I have posted on the JFK bill many times over the years.
The last bill he signed, and it has been a disaster.
The Kennedys lobotomized JFKs sister and put her in a mental institution because she didn’t listen to her old man.
Any Kennedy talking about institutionalizing people is a huge red flag. Not saying it isn’t a problem. Just saying shoot the messenger.
The real crisis is that the mentally ill have taken over control of the Uniparty when those sociopaths should all be institutionalized.

This one post answers the homeless problem, rash of shootings and the uncontrolled, rude and violent segment of society we read about daily.
good post!!
The United States has become an assembly line for crazy.
There's yer trouble
I hope RFK junior gets the nomination. He’s outside the system, so the dems won’t cheat so hard. He’ll bring up some good problems that need to be addressed and Trump will slaughter him.
“The introduction of thorazine, the first psychotropic drug, was a milestone in treatment therapy, making it possible to calm unruly behavior, anxiety, agitation, and confusion without using physical restraints. It offered peace for patients and safety for staff.”

“Under new mental health laws in the 1950s, the Fulton hospital initiated a modified system of outpatient care. In the 1960s, the hospital established community clinics in Mexico, Hannibal, Rolla, Lebanon, and Eldon. By 1970, a typical treatment for mental illness included a brief stay at the hospital for stabilization. Upon release, the patient received in-home visits from trained staff who assisted with medication schedules.”

If RFK Jr. were a serious threat the Deep State would have him shoot himself in the head several times—or maybe have one of their brainwashed patsies do the deed.
I hope so too.
JFK was expecting an inpatient reduction of “50 per cent or more”.

“....they published their first clinical trial in 1952, in which they treated 38 psychotic patients with daily injections of chlorpromazine without the use of other sedating agents. The response was dramatic; treatment with chlorpromazine went beyond simple sedation with patients showing improvements in thinking and emotional behaviour. They also found that doses higher than those used by Laborit were required, giving patients 75–100 mg daily.
“Deniker then visited America, where the publication of their work alerted the American psychiatric community that the new treatment might represent a real breakthrough. Heinz Lehmann of the Verdun Protestant Hospital in Montreal trialled it in 70 patients and also noted its striking effects, with patients’ symptoms resolving after many years of unrelenting psychosis.”

I’ve worked with mentally handicapped people for decades. When in college I worked at a group home. One of the clients became agitated and violent. He was a very smart and clever downs syndrome fella. So he got a stick and began smashing a wall with it. I could have easily taken the stick away and calmed him down.
The ladies at the place called the cops. I was not happy but I was a college kid and they were “professionals”. The cops came and looked at me like I was a pussy. They cuffed the poor guy and next thing he was on lithium. May as well have lobotomized the guy.
He developed Tardive dyskinesia and looked like he had Bells Palsy.
Anyway. Drugs suck. Since the 80s, these azzholes have decided that anybody who acts out needs some friggen experimental mind numbing drug. After the lobotomy craze was deemed cruel. Kennedys.
Thank God I didn’t get a dose of that crap. A nun smacking me was quite enough. Give it to the mentally handicpped. Fvck around and find out. Fauci’s ilk and legacy.
PING
Maybe the Kennedys have learned the hard way and the guy is super protected. They invented the modern day deep state.
You really are ignorant about psychtropuc drugs..lithium doesnt have the side effect of tardive dyskinesia. Lithium does not lobotomize.
You have no perspective or knowledge on drugs.
Your ignorance would have left people in insane asylums.as used to be the case
We forgets that he was the last president that issued real money. Silver certificates.
After I got my degree in Social Work, I worked with high-functioning mentally retarded adults for 8 years-mostly in a group home/independent living situation. I loved my clients-some of the most honest folks I ever worked with, and I never felt unsafe, even when I did overnight shifts-I also saw what happened to those who were given psych meds to make them docile-it was dehumanizing and heartbreaking to see-so I agree with you-drugs suck-electroshock therapy is almost kind in comparison to the side effects of psych drugs.
People who think those drugs are so good have never seen someone zoned out and twitching or drooling in a near catatonic state on Lithium, or doing the Thorazine shuffle...
This nation continues to pay for the guilt the Kennedy clan feels over Joe’s treatment of Rosemary.
It’s as if they are saying to us, “WE didn’t stop him, so now YOU must pay.”
