The US is not world cop.
It goes against the US constitution and the vision of the Founders.
And neocons love being world cop.
The US has been the world cop since, maybe, 1942. That’s a long lifetime ago.
It’s not been 1789 (effective date of the constitution) for a very long time. Reality and compromise and, arguably, corruption, have intruded over and over, and much earlier than most people think. What once was, is no longer, and that change was constant and cumulative. And whatever condition you recall as ideal, it’s not coming back.
Everyone has to make the best of what is. Pining for what never has been, in our lifetimes, is fantasy thinking. It is romanticism.
Conservatism is, fundamentally, realism. The realistic purpose of politics is to make the present better, achieving concrete goals according to an unsentimental understanding of physical reality and human nature.
