Resign-to-run laws require officeholders to resign from their current office in order to run for another. Nationwide, five states have resign-to-run laws—Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, and Texas.

Only 5, I thought there’d be a longer list. I guess all those lieutenant governors can probably do the daily work while the boss is campaigning.

Of course he supports this bill.
But it isn’t law until Meatball signs the bill.

The law was in place when he ran. I asked did he campaign on repealing this law?

Very few states actually have a law requiring officeholders to resign to run for higher office. Florida was a bit of an anomaly in that regard.
