This is not bending the law, it is following the correct process to change the law. This is the way it should be done in our democratic republic. If you don’t like the law, you try to get the law changed. If you can get the legislature to change the law and the executive to sign it, great. Nothing unethical or underhanded in that. That is the way our system is designed to work, rather than just ignoring the law, changing the law by executive order, or judge-shopping to get the law thrown out. The way Florida went about this is the constitutional, conservative way. You just don’t like it because you fear Deantis getting into the race for some strange reason.
