The libertarian party fits your description of “for less government and more freedom.”.
Unless something changed in the last 8 years or so, the libertarian party is the same as it has been for its entire existence.
Has there been a recent change in the platform?
“What the Libertarian Party accomplished in 2020 was giving us government vaccine mandates, growing foreign entanglements in a regional European war, huge government deficits, and growing inflation. How did the Libertarian party accomplish this? In three states —”
The writer implies that the Libertarian party is for government mandates, war, deficits and inflation.
That isn’t what the writer is saying at all, he is pointing that is the effect that libertarians have, just as they are blamed for Patty Murray getting into the Senate.
You cut-off the explanation, why?
“How did the Libertarian party accomplish this? In three states — Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin — the Libertarian vote total was 4.9, 5.3, and 1.9, respectively, times the Democrat margin in those states.”
I just looked at their 2020 platform and it looks the same as it always has, the only difference is their wording is becoming extremely careful as they try to hide their positions and keep them vague, but they are the same as they were more than a half-century ago.
Libertarians are not weeping. They are stoned right now, on pot, because they are dope fiends. They are feeling just fine. And when they don’t feel fine, they will just take another hit!
I'll own Biden winning if you own that feces.
The problem with libertarians is that many are really libertines who care little about moral values and the culture war. I must admit that I have libertarian leanings, but I’m also concerned about the moral decline of civilization in general.
The last year that I could find full text for the libertarian position was 2004, while the position hasn’t changed they keep the wording short and tight and not so clear now.
COMPLETE 2004 PLATFORM TEXT
INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND CIVIL ORDER
IMMIGRATION:
“”THE ISSUE: We welcome all refugees to our country and condemn the efforts of U.S. officials to create a new “Berlin Wall” which would keep them captive. We condemn the U.S. government’s policy of barring those refugees from our country and preventing Americans from assisting their passage to help them escape tyranny or improve their economic prospects.
THE PRINCIPLE: We hold that human rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of nationality. Undocumented non-citizens should not be denied the fundamental freedom to labor and to move about unmolested. Furthermore, immigration must not be restricted for reasons of race, religion, political creed, age or sexual preference. We oppose government welfare and resettlement payments to non-citizens just as we oppose government welfare payments to all other persons.
SOLUTIONS: We condemn massive roundups of Hispanic Americans and others by the federal government in its hunt for individuals not possessing required government documents. We strongly oppose all measures that punish employers who hire undocumented workers. Such measures repress free enterprise, harass workers, and systematically discourage employers from hiring Hispanics.
TRANSITIONAL ACTION: We call for the elimination of all restrictions on immigration, the abolition of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Border Patrol, and a declaration of full amnesty for all people who have entered the country illegally.””
The first sentence of the article was a list of charges against libertarians. I may have cut and pasted a bit more than the charges against libertarians. Why would the libertarians give the country the list of things that they are against? The writer paints with to broad of a bush. I do not necessarily agree with his conclusions/theory as to what happened.
if they would balance that with the elimination of all government handouts, I might understand their position. The lack of freebies would kill their desire to be here.
His point was that by voting libertarian they were in effect voting against the Republicans, those votes cost President Trump reelection according to the writer.
If the libertarians weren’t left, then they would quit doing that, it is how Senator Murray and others got into office, not just Biden and Kamala Harris.
I have never belonged to a party.
Here is the libertarian agenda according to their platform.
Here is the leftist agenda hidden behind the Libertarian curtain.
Libertarian Party Platform:
Throw open the borders completely; only a rare individual (terrorist, disease carrier etc.) can be kept from freedom of movement through “political boundaries”.
Homosexuals; total freedom in the military, gay marriage, adoption, child custody, trans, and everything else.
Abortion; zero restrictions or impediments.
Pornography; no restraint, no restrictions.
Drugs; Meth, Heroin, Crack, Fetynal and anything new that science can come up with, zero restrictions.
Advertising those drugs, prostitution, and pornography; zero restrictions.
Military Strength; minimal capabilities.
That is their argument, fire the Border Patrol and open the borders, and it won’t be a problem because the only reason anyone would want to come to America according to the libbers is because of welfare and freebies which they also want to end.
My response to that is fine, end the welfare and the freebies first............and then we will discuss open borders and firing the Border Patrol.
I don’t know what that has to do with libertarians and their national political party.
