The U.S. military has successfully completed the evacuation of the American embassy in war-torn Sudan, President Joe Biden said late Saturday evening.
Biden confirmed the evacuation of U.S. government personnel from Khartoum and that the administration would continue to assist Americans in Sudan.
"I am proud of the extraordinary commitment of our Embassy staff, who performed their duties with courage and professionalism and embodied America's friendship and connection with the people of Sudan. I am grateful for the unmatched skill of our service members who successfully brought them to safety. And I thank Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Saudi Arabia, which were critical to the success of our operation," he said in a statement."

I like the map & geography in the 1st link.
It’s the 3rd largest country in Africa.

In 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the creation of a Russian naval facility in Sudan capable of mooring nuclear-powered surface vessels.Western diplomats in Khartoum said in 2022 that Russia's Wagner Group was involved in illicit gold mining in Sudan...
What about the American Citizens also there-—who are NOT embassy persons???
“Russians have been doing that in Africa throughout the Cold War”
The Cold War ended in 1991 (at least until the Neocons restarted it). I realize that’s difficult for many to comprehend. At that point, Africa became a free-for-all, and China has gained FAR MORE than Russia. As for the US, NO ONE WANTS US AROUND anymore (another difficult concept for many)...perhaps something to do with our demands for Drag Queen parades and flying the LGBT flag at our embassies?
“Western diplomats in Khartoum said in 2022 that Russia’s Wagner Group was involved in illicit gold mining in Sudan.”
As to the ILLICIT gold mining, when did it become illegal for a country to mine its own resources? Is it because Sudan didn’t apply for EPA permits or something.
As it is, it looks like the Neocons will lose another of their wars in Sudan, with thousands dead, again for no reason.
NHK News reports a JSDF plane was on the ground in Djibouti with intentions to get every Japan national out of Sudan. Not just the embassy staff.
