These cases seem to be prosecuted very lightly.
I remember a case from 30 years ago...a man dropped a rock off an overpass and it struck a baby in a car seat, killing her instantly. He got about five years.
Some teenagers threw a frozen turkey at an uncoming car. Broke every bone in the driver’s face, she was in a coma, traumatic. They were sentenced to a couple years.
It’s felony murder at the least. Not manslaughter. Not assault. I think you’d be more likely to survive if someone took a single shot at your car than dropped a rock through your windshield.
Frozen turkey case. Six months. The injured driver advocated for leniency. The confederates of the thrower got even less.
“Anthony Ruvolo says his aunt died Monday. The cause is not known, and it’s unclear whether the old injuries contributed to her death.
“Newsday says every bone in Ruvolo’s face was shattered and the steering wheel bent when the teenager threw the 20-pound turkey at her car.
“She endured reconstructive surgery and months of rehabilitation.”
