The media does these kinds of reports and interviews to taint the jury pool. It is completely prejudicial and Mr. Lester should get a change in venue at least; better yet a mistrial. I’m aware there is no trial yet and I’m sure they will pressure him to plea bargain. What needs to happen is decent lawyers band together and vigorously defend these kinds of cases. They could work pro-bono or at greatly reduced cost to the defendant and take donations through Give Send Go. They could start a YouTube channel and take superchats to fund their work. I may go to law school and do just that. The decent people of this country really need to wake up and mobilize.

I think the biggest legal hurdle the man faces is that he shot through the door. At least that is what some sources have reported. You really cannot do that in most states, if any. It is a hard decision, to shoot or not, especially if he was legitimately afraid. I hope they do allow a plea deal that does not include jail time. Doubt he would survive a year in prison. I also hope the young man makes a full recovery.
