And that’s why I’d never get on this thing without an abort mode.

Rapid, non-nominal disassembly… as they call it.

What an absolutely pathetic demonstration of gaslighting as the vehicle exploded.
It was clear the panel of 3 idiots were instructed to maintain smiles through any negative event.
I’m now more anti-Musk than ever. Just another government agency (’government affiliated’). Perhaps worse.

SpaceX is calling this a success because it cleared the tower and the first stage separated as planned. Looks like the second state never separated, causing Starship to spin out of control and fall into the ocean.
This is why they call them test flights. I'm sure they will try again and will eventually get it correct.

The SpaceX commentators can sugarcoat it all they want, it was a fail.
They did get good data, I’m sure, but it was disappointing.
Gotta break a few eggs to make that omelet…
Still historic!

Yeah, they had a RUD (Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly) after the Starship failed to separate.
They did say if they got it off the pad, it’d be considered a success. In their pre-launch commentary, they kept saying the phrase “if we get that far”. At least they had a reasonable expectation of what might happen.
I have a feeling that if the same thing was done at NASA, heads would roll.
And....the thing made it well past the point that the Soviet N-1 ever did.
