A T-55 can absorb a $200,000 Javelin missile just as well as a T-90, and at a greatly reduced cost to Russia.

Also not a bad strategy to make your adversary use up their high-tech missiles on low-tech static targets.

Russia knows this is a war against NATO, not merely against Ukraine.

They do everything with the knowledge that they will likely face US/NATO forces in the near future.
