How often does impact to the left side of a chest happen in a football game??? With his risk factor, he’s taking a big chance.

Doctors say he isn't at risk. It's just a very rare event that can happen if you are hit just right at a certain point in the cardiac rhythm, but very, very rarely occurs. Since every team has an MD and automated external defibrillator on the sideline, it is survivable. Without the AED, probably not.

Perhaps he should ask the coach to place him in position where he only gets hit on his right chest.
