Michigan and Superior — is that the one kind of across from the Art Institute?
In the good old days a really fun day trip was to take the train into the city, wander by The Bean and into the Art Institute for the day, then take the train home. No big city driving, tolls or parking bills.
Maybe not anymore.
Yeah, it used to be fun to go downtown on the weekend (friday night thru saturday night) now, with the warmer weather you're pretty much taking your life into your own hands.
You really don't know what's going to happen - if it'll be a trouble free weekend or b.s. like what happened last night happens. You really just don't know.
And with CPD being in the state it is (woefully undermanned, mass retirements, the politicians including old & new mayor who hate the po po) why would anyone stick their necks out to enforce the law or help anyone anymore?
When I have to go downtown for work, I conceal/carry despite the 'laws' against carrying on Metra or my employer's prohibition against weapons on-prem. I'll just be damn'ed if I am put in a position of not being able to defend myself.
