The mainstream media used to be replete with horror stories of how the Ukrainian government was mistreating its citizens in the Donbas, along with how much influence Nazi sympathizers and Banderites exercised in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

But that was in 2014 when Obama did not wish to intervene directly in the annexation of Crimea and the media sought to help him by casting aspersions on Ukraine.

So much of the media's coverage now is shaped by its belief that the Russians intervened on behalf of Trump in the 2016 election. Now it serves its narrative to depict Ukraine as a plucky defender of democracy.

So those 2014 accounts of Ukrainian misdeeds have been memory-holed.
