“A Jungle Primary will not fix the GOP problem in Montana.”
It’ll fix the Tester problem, from getting him off the November ballot, and slipping into office again.
“It’ll fix the Tester problem, from getting him off the November ballot, and slipping into office again.”
Tester is in no way, shape or form going to be “off the November ballot” unless he decides to retire.
Anyone hyperventilating over the prospect of 2 Republicans and 0 Democrats (or vice versa) being on the ballot are completely delusional. As are those who are in a panic by thinking this new law would somehow equate to Rigged Choice Voting.
Here is an example of a potential jungle primary for mayor of a city of 60,000 people. Five Republicans running for the one office. One jackass female against four R’s of varying degree.
The opinion of a great many people is the Jackass wins going away. You might think two or three of the male candidates might be able to see the problem and bow out for the sake of reality.
You don’t need 51 percent to be the winner, only a plurality of votes. So, in theory the Jackass wins based on the four way split in the non Jackass vote.
