Survey: Trump Leads DeSantis in Crowded Field with Majority Support

Former President Donald Trump is dominating the 2024 Republican primary field, leading his closest potential challenger with majority support in the wake of his indictment, a recent Insider Advantage survey shows.

The survey asked Republican respondents, “If you were voting today to choose the next Republican nominee for president, for whom would you vote? “

The survey listed nearly a dozen potential challengers, some who have already formally jumped into the presidential ring, such as former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.

Trump has a majority support in the potentially crowded field, garnering 57 percent. No other individual comes close, as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — who has not made a presidential announcement — falls 33 points behind with 24 percent support.

Haley came in third place with five percent support, followed by former Vice President Mike Pence (four percent) and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (two percent). No one else saw greater than one percent support:

2024 National Republican Primary

• Trump — 57%
• DeSantis — 24%
• Haley — 5%
• Pence — 4%
• Christie — 2%
• Noem — 1%
• Pompeo — 1%
• Ramaswamy — 1%
• Sununu — 1%
• T. Scott — 0%
• Youngkin — 0%@InsiderPolling (B) | 550 LV | 03/31-04/01https://t.co/IR01i7Rire pic.twitter.com/thXogt1AAL

The survey, taken March 31 to April 1, among 550 likely GOP Primary/Caucus voters, has a +/- 4.2 percent margin of error.

Similarly, a YouGov/Yahoo News survey which followed the news of Trump’s indictment showed the former president boasting a 26-point lead over DeSantis, once again indicating that the indictment could backfire on Democrats, only bolstering Trump’s status in 2024.

Notably, Trump’s campaign raised a massive $4 million in the 24 hours following the news of the indictment, and one-quarter of those contributions came from individuals who had never donated to the former president’s campaign.

“The average contribution is $34. … It’s regular people, it’s small dollar donors,” Trump adviser Jason Miller told Breitbart News Saturday.

“For a quarter of these to be brand new people, that to your point, Matt, these are the Democrats and the independents, who always thought, ‘Man this is — you know, I like what Trump’s doing. Maybe sometimes I listen to the media too much,’ or say that, ‘You know, I get swayed by them.’ But these are people saying, ‘You know what? Enough is enough. Enough of the rigged system, the partisan witch hunt. I’m gonna go and make my voice heard for President Trump,'” he added.

A whole lot of money being 🚽 for zero return. Guess it’s an ego thing so one can add it to their wiki profile. “Presidential can’t-i-date”.

"Survey: Trump Leads DeSantis in Crowded Field with Majority Support"

As a side note to this thread, please consider the following.

I understand that because of election laws you can raise money for yourself, possibly becoming a millionaire, by running for a public office and then keeping campaign contributions even if you don't win.

In other words, all that some candidates for public office may be looking for is a little personal spending money.

Yesterday after Trump returned from appearing at the kangaroo court and just before he came out to speak from Mar-A-Lago, NewsMax aired a low-life shameful ad for drafting Desantis for President.
None other than Ed Rollins was the beggar.

The biggest alpha male is breathing up all the oxygen in the room, which should a measure of something.

This is approximately where Bernie Sanders was in 2019, in the Democrat (socialist) race for the Democrat party nomination. The Democrat (socialists) were afraid to broadcast their intentions too clearly. They could keep Joe Biden stowed away and cover their objectives better. After all, Joe didn’t talk like a socialist back then.

Turns out the difference between Bernie and Joe was no distinction in the end. Bernie was just TOO articulate.

Trump took on and beat how many of the supposedly best and brightest the GOP had to offer in 2016? 16? 17?

“Crowded” field isn’t a problem.. and even with a “crowded” field, this poll is showing him at almost 60%, so its hardly like he’s looking at a plurality win of only 40% of something... even if everyone who didn’t support him consolidated on 1 candidate, Trump still wins by 14 points...

Now the election is still a good way off yet.. but not that far off.. pretty much 10 months to the day from today... Iowa caucuses are early Feb5... NH is Feb 13

Honestly I really don’t see how anything, short of a huge black swan event, that will keep Trump from the nomination, and by a huge margin.

We will see how this all plays out, but the whole “crowded field” is comical, when you have 1 person with nearly 60% support.

He can run if he wants to, but he’ll almost certainly wind up harming himself politically long term far more than he will have any shot at winning.

Desantis wants to run, to build up his donor network for 2028... not a bad move, but if he wants to try to take on Trump directly and head to head... He’ll most likely wind up like Rubio and Cruz... harming their future ambitions far more.

If he runs, and his goal is just to build a network for 2028, then he needs to stay away from direct confrontations... he can have surrogates do it, but if he tries to go toe to toe with Trump he’ll just be destroyed. Just look at his actions in the last few weeks, wishy washy, walking back, etc etc...

DeSantis and all GOP candidates are at a disadvantage, they need the GOP money men, and the GOP money men are ESTABLISHMENT... they want more illegals, they want amnesty, they want globalism... So, just like in 2016, Trump and talk to the population and electorate about what REALLY is needed and everyone else will be hamstrung by their globalist backers....

Uh huh...

And after Trump gets clobbered in 2024 (and he will), losing the House and any shot and retaking the Senate, it'll be the same people here telling DeSantis to wait until 2032 because Trump is still youthful and full of vigor and the only one who can "Drain The Swamp" in '28.

I’m not “telling” Desantis to do anything, he can do whatever he likes... He’s a big boy.. however if he does go toe to toe with Trump, he will get squashed.

What I am saying is, there is no one, short of a huge black swan event, who is going to beat Trump for the GOP nomination. No one has a larger or more loyal base than Trump.

If you think that Trump’s supporters are going to stay home, or vote for someone else, when Trump is on the ballot, you are living in a state of denial.

You are welcome to not like hearing that, but from a pragmatic reality standpoint it is the truth.

There is absolutely no one, not a single person, declared or rumored to be declaring that has the capacity to take Trump out during the primaries. If you believe that, they are just like the fools who thought Oz had a prayer of winning PA.

Listening to too many flappy headed morons on TV and Talk Radio, paid to feed you BS, fed to the them by the Uniparty/Gloabalist/Establishment.

With Trump in the race, the math does not exist for Desantis, or anyone else for that matter, to win the republican nomination.

Wake up people! The Dems and the media are trying to pick our nominee for us. They knew many Republicans would rally behind Trump if he would be indited. The Dems badly want to run against Trump in the general election because they know that nobody energizes Dems to get out and vote like Trump does, and Trump still polls poorly against Independents and women. Check out how Trump’s hand picked Senate candidates in 2022 did with Independents and women - Independents and women went for lousy Dem candidates in a big way. And, Trump does nothing to try to draw them in - he just wants to preach to his base. Many Independents and women are tired of the Trump drama, especially drama he brings on himself by things he says or does.
2024 should be about Biden and his horrible record, but if Trump is the nominee, Trump will suck all the oxygen out of the race and the election will become a referendum on Trump - not good.
I fear that the Dems will get what they want and Trump will be the nominee, and we will lose big in 24. The stakes are way too high this time around to think about anything but winning, and it is clear that Trump is not our best chance to win.
BTW,Primaries are won state by state. That’s why these national interactive polls are meaningless, but the media keeps pushing them to make it look like Trump has it in the bag. I remember when Guiliani had a huge lead at this point in 2007, only to be bumped off by John McCain.

That’s solid thinking.

The fundamental problem with GOPe thinking is they are somehow persuaded that the coalition of voters Trump put together in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania are Republican leaning who are focused on tax policy and spending. They are beyond delusional. They are insane.

Those people were Obama voters. They came to Trump. They didn’t come to him for taxes and spending. They came to him to Drain the Swamp and Build the Wall. They know the party hierarchies are Swamp. They know them to be filth.

No one, not any other candidate talks about Draining the Swamp, because all of them have been in some office or another for 8+ years. They don’t want the Swamp drained. They ARE the Swamp.

The nomination is already over. Trump wins it and only someone murdering him, physically, could stop that. If it happens, his voters are not going to vote the default GOP nominee. Not unless he stands up and talks about the Swamp as his TOTAL focus. Not going to happen.

Trump wins for one reason and one reason only... and its really no more complicated.

AMERICA FIRST.

No other player in the space can sell themselves with that claim, because everyone knows they are all backed by money men and a system that doesn’t give a damn about America, other than how much of a cut they will get selling it out.

There is a REASON, no one spoke up against NAFTA before Trump.. there is a REASON, no one spoke up loudly against Illegal Immigration before Trump...
etc etc etc...

Because EVERY single politician on both sides of the aisle are beholden to money men who want all those things and don’t give a damn about America, or her people.

There is no one who can beat Trump because there is no one who is going to appeal and draw in supporters like Trump will, no one.

Look at the anti Trump arguments being offered... that tells you everything you need to know. Dees anyone attack Trump on Policy? Anyone? Not really... its just the same old he doesn’t have the temperament, he can’t win nonsense the same folks fed back in 16, and then plotted and were actively involved in stealing the 2020 election.

Trump can not only say he’s against the establishment, he also has a track record to back it up.

No one is going to offer any sort of narrative that is going to sell... the “I’m not Trump” wing is people like Kasich and Romney and Jeb... and if you think that’s going to win you votes, you haven’t been paying attention.

Don’t get me wrong, Trump will once again have to beat not only the D’s but he R’s as well if he is going to be re-elected to the White House, because unlike 2020 where they quietly worked behind the scenes against him the establishment GOP will be just as radical and crazy as the craziest Dems once he has the nomination.

Look at Desantis’ behavior and polls in the last few weeks, they show the reality. The more he’s seen the less he’s like, he’s not authentic... he can’t speak from the gut, and when he tries he gets undercut and put back into place by his establishment donors.

I don’t hate Desantis, but I really don’t see how he doesn’t wind up becoming massively damaged long term if he listens to the sycophants whispering in his ear that he can beat Trump.

Asa Hutchinson calls for Trump to drop out of the race. He will be a distraction to getting their message out to the people.

This means that he would like this to be a race of RINO’s only.

No, I agree.

The GOP base has been taken over by a plurality of voters who have no interest in winning elections or advancing conservatism. They’re devoted solely to Trump.

And when Trump gets clobbered in 2024 to Biden because Trump loses everyone outside of this devoted base, and then his handpicked midterm candidates get clobbered in 2026 for the same reason, they’ll be right back in 2028 to deliver him yet another nomination, —and the GOP yet another General Election defeat.

By the time Trump leaves the scene (likely only when our Heavenly Father calls him home), Republicans won’t be able to get elected in Wyoming.

And this plurality of voters are fine with that.
