"It's unclear how California would afford to pay more than $5 million to Black residents. Newsom announced in January that the state faces a projected budget deficit of $22.5 billion for the coming fiscal year."

They'll ask the feds for the $$ - and they'll print it up.

Why leave it at $7 million?

Why not ask for 1 trillion dollars instead?

They can ask the feds who will print it up.

Because they don’t actually want a ‘payout’ - the activists/terrorists/extortionists get more in the long run from using white guilt to strong arm government and corporations, and keep minorities on their political plantations.

My father's older brother used to tell stories of seeing signs everywhere at work places around Boston saying "No Irish Need Apply".

Where's *my* $5 million?

Soooo giving money to every living black person is going to make up for the trauma of slavery from generations ago? Not one person alive today has experienced slavery in California (except the taxpayers and the trafficked-not that our political class care for either of those). This is beyond stupid but not at all surprising of democrats. They are FULL of stupid ideas and I don’t think there’s a bottom to the stupidity.

$10 million won’t be enough, $20 million won’t be enough, $50 million won’t be enough, $100 million won’t be enough, $250 million won’t be enough, $500 million won’t be enough, $10 million won’t be enough, and so on and so forth.

If California opens this can of worms, they will never ever satisfy the “gimmedat you racist white honkeys!” Crowd

California and Newsom have let this insanity go much too far and it’s starting to pick up steam. On the positive side, when middle-class and lower-class Californians finally get word that they will be expected to pay taxes to provide funds to black people who were never slaves in a state which never had legalized slavery, it may end Democrat rule in California for the first time in decades.

I had three renters who got COVID money to pay their rent for about a year. Two of them got addicted to drugs. The other signed up for debt she couldn’t afford without the COVID money. In three years each recipient will be broke or dead.

Why is this different than paying terrorists for hostages?

If they can get away with it the first time what’s to stop them from doing it forever?

ENJOY THE SUCK KALIFORNIA!

It was funny before. Now its getting funnier.

Nobody said no when the gibmedats demanded a reparations panel. In the name of “social justice” they went along with it. Then, when the gibmedats came up with their original ridiculous $5m demand, the progressives were too terrified to even voice a token opposition. So the gibmedats looked around and said, well, if they’re not complaining about $5m, then clearly thats not enough, so we’ll go for more.

Eventually this will come crashing down, and at the end of the day the gibmedats will get nothing. Or a tiny token at best. And thats when the fun begins.

Maybe they should base reparations not only on whether their ancestors were actually slave but also on how much they have contribute to making this Republic better. Don’t get me wrong. I believe there are many blacks that have put on police and military uniforms and put their lives in danger and have lost their lives in that service but have been mostly ignored by the government they have served. I believe California is just following the Democrats plan to tax the middle class out of existence, disarm law abiding citizens of all assault weapons aka any semiautomatic weapon and establish their long sought after socialist “Republic’.

It will be fun watching what happens when credulous blacks are convinced that their progressive pimps are going to give them many $$ millions - and then they get NOTHING.

I predict some much reduced form of payment for a relative few spread over 30 years. Then a structured settlement cash up front company will offer all the cash at once with an imputed interest rate of about 70%.

In other words, the people that have all the money now will get it all back almost immediately, after they pat themselves on the back for a nice virtue signal.
