I kind of remember him being in the news quite a few years ago and a subject of FR talk. I don’t recall who was Pres. then. He seemed alright to me but he was just an ambassador then IIRC.
Haven’t heard about him since.

Of course John Huntsman Jr speaks and understands Mandarin Chinese. He served a two year church mission to Taiwan beginning in 1979.
He did unfortunately endorse Mitt Romney for President when he dropped out of the race in 2012. That pretty much pegs him as an establishment Republican.
