Former national security adviser John Bolton on Monday said Russian President Vladimir Putin “may not be bluffing” about his plans to move nuclear weapons into neighboring Belarus as Moscow’s war on Ukraine stretches into its second year.
Putin’s threat to station the weapons in Belarus has been condemned by the U.S. and NATO — and Ukraine has called the move “nuclear blackmail.”
“Well, I think he’s been bluffing when he’s tried to rattle the nuclear saber before. He may not be bluffing here in the sense he may actually move tactical nuclear weapons into Belarus, which is its own separate problem” Bolton said of Putin on “CNN This Morning.”
He raised the concern that Belarus, which was once part of the Soviet Union, could potentially be reabsorbed into Russia, calling the possibility “something I don’t think we’re paying enough attention to.”

People say Putin never bluffs. He gives his opinion, then he warns, but he doesn’t seem to bluff.

What’s actually ridiculous is folks believing that a brainburn dyed in the wool commie like putin would announce what he’s going to do. Truth probably is if he wanted them there he sent them in a long time ago and wasn’t a phony with a threat announcement.
There’s a lot of places on the planet that have nukes that we don’t know about.

I think the Russian already have them in Kaliningrad Oblast (former East Prussia). They have rattled their sabres before, threatening use of their missiles from that enclave. Placing them in Belarus would be little different.

F*** John Bolton. He’s never seen a war he didn’t like. Give him a gun and send him off.
They have these new mobile systems which make them easy to move. With the current geopolitical situation I wouldn’t be surprised if the Russians put them there 6 months into the Ukraine conflict.
