Former President Donald Trump took aim at potential Republican primary foe Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis during a recent campaign event, with much of the criticism garnering little enthusiasm from those in attendance.
During his Saturday campaign event in Waco, Texas, on Saturday, Trump argued that DeSantis had little chance of becoming Florida's governor without the former president's endorsement, with Trump breaking into an impersonation of DeSantis allegedly begging him for his support in the state's 2018 Republican primary.
"So, he came, and he really wanted [my endorsement]. I said, ‘You can’t win, can you? How do you – can [you] win?'" Trump said, recalling the alleged conversation with DeSantis. "‘Sir, if you endorse me, I’ll win. Please, please, sir, endorse me,'" Trump continued as he acted out a crying, begging voice.

As a example, I was very positive about DeSantis until he made a totally unnecessary and epic stupid jab at Trump about porn star hush money when he should have been attacking Alvin Bragg for weaponizing our legal system against a political opponent.
My support for DeSantis pretty much evaporated because I realized he was not the right man for our time and he was not ready to do what needs to be done. Trump gets a pass for now because of what has been done to him, but he needs catch a clue and get some discipline.
Tell that toTrump.
I don’t get the chastising DeSantis. He hasn’t acted like a petulant entitled child. The closest he’s come is the last week or so and that is tepid compared to Trump’s consistent behavior of many months on desantis, years for everything else.
You mean another two-time Trump voter posting from one of Trump’s favorite outlets!
That tired argument is over 7 years old, and its predictions have never been born out. For every person he looses with these attacks, he gains two.
Perhaps they see a distinction between demeaning the most effective Republican governor in the country with stupid half-literate insults and encouraging him to climb on board the campaign.
Of winning the republican primary, yes. Of winning over more independent and women voters for the general election, no.
Well IDK but I firmly believe that Trump is doing a public service here. Telling the unpalatable truths, taking the heat to expose a faux conservative.
DeSantis has been bought. He admires the Bushes & Paul Ryan. He has all the wrong friends.
Americans don’t need another RINO in patriotic clothing.
He probably should have learned that lesson through the surrogates he pushed in 2022.
Unfortunately, I don't believe it's likely to be borne out by actual events.
Blackbird is into all that name calling, but let him be. Par for the course.
It's such a shame.
Right, Trump is winning over independents and women voter with these attack. /s
Trump sees RDS as the point man for the GOPe (Bush/Ryan/Pence/Christie/McConnell et.al.) to retain control of the Republican wing of the Uniparty. This isn’t about 2024. Yet. It’s about the allocation of money from big donors.
FOX “news” [traitors to US, liars of election results]
invented this to attack Pres. Trump.
It is what the lying “news” station always does.
Like what a great governor Charlie Crist was?
Man, we need more conservatism like that, I tell ya!
That's the chant of every neverTrumper. You might as well say you voted for Trump 10 times. Neither can be verified.
Donald John Trump has all the right enemies.
Ronald Dion DeSantis has all the wrong friends.
*********
1. They both have common enemies. The libs trash DeSantis every day.
2. The only DeSantis friends who should matter to us are the ones in the legislature who are supporting his MAGA legislation — and making Florida a great place for conservatives to live.
“Florida was doing fantastically,” he continued. “You had a governor named Rick Scott who did a very good job. Even Charlie Crist, a Democrat, did a good job, but he had very good numbers.”
Even Crist is not a ringing endorsement.
You are reaching.
