We used to have some Gypsys come through here in my teen years. They even referred to themselves as Gypsys.

Gypped is a word that is in wide use in the language. About .00001% of the people know that it comes from Gypsy. (Gypsy is another common word, like Eskimo, that no one told us has been added to the list of forbidden ethnic slurs.)
