Walmart announced they're shuttering 12 stores across nine states and Washington DC this year due to failing profits - on the same day they announced hundreds of layoffs at fulfillment centers.

“The one near me reduced their hours from 24/7 to 8 AM to 10 PM.”
************
In the past week one restaurant and one store near me has cut back their hours. This wouldn’t happen in a robust, healthy economy.
Walmart is losing business because their clientele are not the most savoy group of individuals, the self checkouts, tye long lines. I hit dollar general 10:1 over walmart. If I have to go to walmart I need about 10 minutes to psyche myself up to walk thru that cesspool.
Yes self checkout is a criminal’s paradise
You are exactly right.
Walmart destroyed small town America.
No, most of these appear to be in the cities and they are probably shoplifted to ruins on a daily basis.
“Predominantly blue states...what a shocker”
**********
Its quite amazing how much political abuse the people in blue states and cities will tolerate. Just saying.
Bentonville is indeed where their HQ is.
I would have to believe this is either one of their oldest, smallest stores, or some sort of concept store that they could closely monitor.
I have noticed many of those self checkouts have been roped off or corralled lately.
“failing profits”
I missed that part-—You’re right. I know Target, Wawa and now Walmarts are pulling out of Philly. So I’m sure government will come in-—complain they’re food deserts that effect blacks....then make government stores with “free crap”.
They’re saying it without saying it.
Shoplifting was a “thing” in the 1990s in Miami.
I watched as rental-cop cursed when he discovered a plastic blister torn at the bottom from some hanging cosmetic item.
I don’t think Walmart destroyed small town America. They kept people in small towns from having to drive to big cities because small town stores didn’t have much stock and prices were high.
If anything, these stores hurt business in larger cities who had people drive in to the city to shop.
But to complete the cycle, the downtown area often rebuilds with specialty shops, restaurants, and services that Walmart does not offer.
The town benefits from Walmart’s lower prices AND from the existence of the new downtown businesses.
The only ones who lose are the owners of the overpriced stores who couldn’t compete with Walmart.
Capitalism is a wonderful thing that benefits the entire community.
One of the reasons the Left despises Wal-Mart is that they think it encouraged Urban Sprawl, since folks didn’t have to drive to the city, so it encouraged folks to live in the Suburbs, since they could get everything they need.
Oh noes! Angry Walmart shoppers who can’t get their discount coupon fix? This won’t be pretty.
But the Walton family today are all Leftists! Go figure! Sam Walton is surely spinning in his grave.
“I remember when the Walmart family asked Ford how much they wanted for GT40 chassis 1075 parked in their museum.
They made Ford an offer they couldn’t refuse.
My first thought is they should concentrate more on their business before they go the way of JC Pennys.”
Not the family. Rob Walton. Lawyer and race car driver.

Those locations are being shoplifted out of business
Not sure how they are being “shop lifted out of existence. Indiana? Wisconsin? Florida?
All three are growing states that are basically red. If these stores are in down-towns like Miami Indianapolis and Milwaukee, I might be able to see it. But even those places are not nearly as bad as Seattle, LA or San Fran area.
