That law is unconstitutional, or it should be.
No laws establishing one (or two) political parties have any place in a representative republic (but they are a perfect fit for "our democracy").

Not sure I follow. If he was a Libertarian or a Green Party member, then one of those would be chosen.
Don’t see this as an R and D thing only (though practically speaking it is).
