Police in Houston have arrested two teenagers over a shocking 'jugging' incident that left a woman paralyzed
Joseph Harrell, 17, and Zy'Nika Ayesha Woods, 19, were charged after the victim, Nhung Truong, 44, was attacked after taking $4,300 from an ATM
Truong is now paralyzed, uses a wheelchair, and needs round-the-clock support from her family
Joseph Harrell, 17, and Zy'Nika Ayesha Woods, 19, were charged after Nhung Truong, 44, was attacked after taking $4,300 from an ATM.
Shocking video of the incident shows Truong violently grabbed and body slammed onto the ground by an attacker who followed her for more than 23 miles after she withdrew cash from an ATM on February 13.
Houston police described the incident as a 'jugging' attack, where thieves target victims who've recently used an ATM.
The police department said Truong had withdrawn money from the Bank of America on Blackhawk Boulevard in Houston and was followed by the suspects for nearly 24 miles to a shopping center on Bellaire around 11:30 a.m.
In the video, the thief could be seen snatching an envelope that police believe he thought was Truong's cash from her scattered belongings. He began to flee but then turns around and body slammed Truong to the ground and fled with the money.
Police Chief Troy Finner said: 'I just spoke to Ms. Truong... and assured her, and I want the city of Houston to stand behind us. These are very serious injuries. The recovery is very long. And I want her to know the love of our agency but also our great citizens in this city.'
Woods was arrested for a traffic violation then confessed to detectives about the robbery. She also implicated Harrell, Detective Tyrus Fontenot said.

She was going to Vietnam on a family trip. I’d never carry that much cash. If you need easily accessible cash, get Traveler’s Checks. Actually, I haven’t used Traveler’s Checks in probably 40 years. Are they still available?
I don’t think Traveler’s Checks work anymore. When I travel I take a debit card and withdraw money there. Just do your research and stay away from the high-fee machines. Especially in Europe, if it’s blue and yellow, stay far far away.
Their Travelers Cheques page shows a picture of me reading a paper map 40 years ago. As long as you are using a century-old money technology, why not use centuries-old map tech, too?
Carl! Haven’t seen him in ages. I forgot he was the pitch-man.
LOL! Those were the days, weren’t they?
American Express still offers them. I used to use them when I was in the service and traveling halfway around the world . Never had a problem using them. That being said, I have not used them In 40 years.
I did a lot of global business travel from the mid 70s to about 1990. I used them a LOT back then when it was a crapshoot finding stores that would accept credit cards in remote parts of the world.
There wasn’t any downside to using them as far as I was concerned.
They would replace them if lost, never had to do that, but you can’t beat that.
$5000 daily withdrawals from your ATM? Do you live in Sinaloa?
There’s a reason the world was created as it was and God placed people where He did.....different cultures, languages, borders etc. Nothing but chaos when mankind tries to mix them together.....and that will not change....they don’t belong together.
Well, California, so yeah.
Scum....barely out of their teens with an established criminal mind. Many begin stealing in grade school and accepted as ok in the black culture....Violence and theft are deeply embedded in their culture particularly among their own kind....
When I searched YouTube for “Jugging”, I came across several rap videos celebrating Jugging people.
Blacks do celebrate their thefts. That’s why they all dress in the latest black fashion and shoes.
That was the big attraction. This poor woman should have gotten Travelers Checks and she wouldn’t have lost her money. Unless the things screamed “What is this s$&t?” And beat her worse.
Why am I not surprised?
Depends on if it’s a business account and how much you maintain as a balance
