Mr Trump later deleted the post and replaced it with a lengthier response. His campaign team also sent out a press release criticising what they painted as a tepid response from the governor.

There was another path but the Trump team declined to take that path and that would have been to haul the Accuser and the lawyer into court and sue them for defamation but instead they applied money to the situation which cast a whole different line on it.
