Although I don’t know the mechanics of the VP becoming President, whether it needsca vote or it is automatic, the President does have the power to pardon anybody currently convicted, charged or impending charges.

He may be pardoned, but he would still be kicked out of office if impeached. It won’t happen, of course. We need a congress controlled by moral people to do that.
