The Russians have no strategy.

I would suggest you go back to your own posts on the subject

13th December 2022
https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/4116051/posts?page=49#49
Bobl “Good to hear that Bakhmut will FINALLY be liberated.”

—> sorry, but 3 months later, that finally is still a far way off. And it isn’t “liberated”, rather “conquered by the aggressor state Russia”

you changed that on 17th December
https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4117048/posts?page=24#24
to
“Once Bakhmut is liberated,”

Then on 16th January you pipe up again
https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/4123673/posts?page=13#13
“With Soledar now liberated, and Bakhmut about to be liberated,”

and 19th January
https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4124556/posts?page=17#17
“or the upcoming Liberation of Bakhmut.”

20th January
https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4124779/posts?page=13#13
“Bakhmut is now Operationally Encircled, so its liberation is near. Seems like things have sped up”

28th January
https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4126642/posts?page=55#55
“With Bakhmut, the linchpin of Donbass defense, on the verge of liberation,”

10th Feb 2023
https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4129954/posts?page=14#14
“I find it ‘very interesting’ how the Western Media is rolling out stories to deflect from the impending Liberation of Bakhmut, which will be the biggest Russian victory of the war (so far).”
—> you think this conquest (which hasn’t happened yet) is bigger than their early capture of Kherson (which they lost btw)?

and 10th Feb
https://freerepublic.com/focus/religion/4129960/posts?page=7#7
“the impending Liberation of Bakhmut on your mind, perhaps?”

3rd March
https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4135307/posts?page=16#16
“Russia has moved about 2km west on the Bakhmut Front in over a year, “

5th March
https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4135834/posts?page=23#23
“Bakhmut has fallen.”

Correct.

you’ve been talking about it for 3 months - and Russia has been trying for 7 months (and advanced just a few kilometers as you noted).

Right now they are tossing air-to-air missiles at ground targets and supersonic missiles and land to sea missiles. Looks like they are throwing everything including the kitchen sink

For a country that was invaded by the “2nd most powerful military in the world” who tried to decapitate it and occupy the capital and take over most of the east — Ukraine is doing pretty well.

It’s like the Czechs fighting off the Nazis

The Russians have no strategy as seen in their flailing around like headless chickens once their attempt to decapitate Kyiv failed.

Since then Russia ha retreated continuously - only now have they gained 20 km in 7 months — nothing compared to their retreat over the past year

Russia STILL has at least 18 months to ‘weaken’ NATO before weapons production finally ramps up, so why should they be in hurry?

Wrong.

Sorry, unless you reject Jesus Christ, apologize for your white supremacy, and disavow the Founding Fathers, you are a terrorist according to the FBI. Enjoy, what little time you have left, MVCRevMcVeigh@aol.com

“Sorry, unless you reject Jesus Christ, apologize for your white supremacy, and disavow the Founding Fathers, you are a terrorist according to the FBI.”

Source for your silly premise???

This resource may provide a more accurate definition of Domestic Terrorism [file:///C:/Users/umcre/Downloads/ndaa-report-dt-definitions-terminology-methodology-111220.pdf]

“Domestic Terrorism: Definitions, Terminology, and Methodology
November 2020
Statute Pub. L. 116-92 – National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020
Requirements
• Develop standardized definitions of terminology relating to domestic terrorism (DT) and uniform methodologies for tracking incidents of DT
• This is requested to be done jointly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security (DHS), and in consultation with the Director of National Intelligence.

Under FBI policy and federal law, no investigative activity may be based solely on First Amendment activity. The
FBI does not investigate, collect, or maintain information on US persons solely for the purpose of monitoring
activities protected by the First Amendment.

All personnel should exercise sound judgment and discretion in evaluating the totality of circumstances surrounding any of these indicators in order to determine whether a law
enforcement or intelligence response or activity is warranted.

Definitions
Domestic Terrorism for the FBI’s purposes is referenced in U.S. Code at 18 U.S.C. 2331(5),
and is defined as activities:
• Involving acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United
States or of any State;
• Appearing to be intended to:
o Intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
o Influence the policy of government by intimidation or
coercion; or
o Affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction,
assassination or kidnapping; and
• Occurring primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

This is a definitional statute, not a charging statute. We talk about the threat these actors pose as Domestic Terrorism threats, but each of the FBI’s threat categories, described in further detail below, uses the words “violent extremism” because the underlying ideology itself and the advocacy of such beliefs is not prohibited by US law.

In using the term Domestic Terrorism, DHS looks to the Homeland Security Act definition of terrorism, 6 U.S.C. 101(18), which is substantially similar but not identical to the title 18 definition. That provision defines terrorism as any activity that:
• Involves an act that:
o Is dangerous to human life or potentially destructive
of critical infrastructure or key resources; and
o Is a violation of the criminal laws of the United
States or of any State or other subdivision of the United
States; and
• Appears to be intended:
o To intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
o To influence the policy of a government by intimidation
or coercion; or
o To affect the conduct of a government by mass
destruction, assassination, or kidnapping.
In this vein, the FBI and DHS use the term Domestic Violent Extremist (DVE) to describe an individual based and operating primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States who seeks to further their ideological goals wholly or in part through unlawful acts of force or
violence.1

***It is important to remember that the mere advocacy of ideological positions and/or the use of strong rhetoric DOES NOT constitute violent extremism, and in some cases direct or specific threats of violence must be present to constitute a violation of federal law.

The smart thing would be to stop pushing to take Bakhmut.
Except Prigozhin has staked his fame on taking the town, so he does not want to back down.

The longer Wagner insists on taking the city, the more two ideas cross my mind.
First, the Kremlin is using the battle to treat Wagner as a loose end and cut it off.
Second, Ukraine is using it as a opportunity to kill off as many of Wagner's core of more experienced personnel as they can.

Russia is the one weakening.

This is visible in
1. Putin having to rely on Wagner troops and then trying a mobilization (which failed)
2. Russia buying ammunition and drones from Iran and North Korea — desperation
3. Russia is firing air-to-air missiles, air-to-ship missiles and supersonic missiles at land targets - that shows that they have a severe limitation in missiles.
4. Russia has been losing thousands of soldiers - as seen in the bodybags, and the financial bonuses set by the Duma

In contrast, NATO has ramped up production - while it still has enough to crush Russia. the USA alone has enough in surplus to take on Russia thrice over.

UKR is playing rope-a-dope with the Russians in Bakhmut.

Bakhmut isn’t strategically important for the defense of Ukraine but it has proven to be very useful in inflicting massive casualties on the Russians and forcing them to expend large quantities of war material.
