My experience has been that immediate disclosure got me particularly good treatment, so good, indeed, that it’s become my SOP.

Yep, pretty much. Arizona doesn't have a "must announce" law but before I move my hands anywhere I tell the cop what I'm carrying and where it is. I just don't move anything until that cop has processed what I told him and lets me know what he wants me to do next. No surprises for the cop has, so far, prevented any surprises for me. That being said, it's kind of entertaining to see the cop's eyes roll back in his head when I tell him I'm carrying.

Almost forgot, for the record, getting pulled over seems to be much less of an issue when I'm obeying traffic laws and driving a vehicle that's in good repair.

I probably live somewhere near you. Haven't been stopped while carrying, but my plan is to keep my hands on the steering wheel, tell the cop what gun I've go and where it is, and keep my hands on the steering wheel until he tells me what to do.

Seems like simple courtesy AND my best chance to drive home alive.
