People who work as Independent Contractors often do so because they see themselves as FREE individuals with the right to work when, where, for whom, etc. as they please. In the Democrat view, domestic terrorists.

I went out on my own in 1980, doing books for SMALL companies that didn’t need a full time person. MANY were ONE MAN shops.
I got a 1099 every year & all 1099’s were filed by my clients.
I controlled my own hours-—did what needed to be done—even if I had 65 hour weeks in Jan when ALL year end papers needed to be done for every client I had.
I had as many as 19 clients at one time.
Last client retired a year ago.
I did his Books for 53 years.
