In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when little was known about the novel virus, the U.K. government briefly considered asking the public to exterminate every cat amid fears that the pets could spread the disease.
Lord Bethell, a former deputy Health Minister from 2020 to 2021, revealed the news Wednesday during an interview with Britain’s Channel 4 News.

If you want a Revolution, try to kill all the cats and you will have your bloody revolution
Well, the Brits have always had a strange affinity to facism. Surprised the even fought Hitler.
The cats and dogs thing probably didn't even have anything to do with schicklgruber.
Which just goes to prove how absolutely looney government response to the scamdemic actually was. As if any more proof was needed.
I’ve got a relative who owns a small farm. He’s got lots of cats running around, and he loves them. It’s because the cats keep the mice in check. No cats equals mice in the cow barn, and mice in the corn bin.
Well, they could ask me to, but I’d put them down before my cat.
I’m not a cat guy, but had they asked me to kill my dog, i would respond that they can go straight to hell. If they push it beyond that and try to act on their idea, only one of us would walk away... period.
BTW, here’s the dirty truth. They said cats as a proxy for people. But deep in their black hearts they crave genocidal power and issuing proclamations that this group or that must die.
And they did it to the elderly with their protocol. Pumped them full of fluids, Remdesivir, knocked them out with drugs and intubated them.
A many a government paycheck recipient would be relieved of their worldly obligations if they showed up at my house.
It’s humans who normally spread the disease. By his reasoning, all humans should be killed.
Don’t think for a minute such thoughts do not cross their genocidal minds. They routinely and openly discuss how the world’s population needs to drop from 7.8 billion to 500 million.
Just once when someone at WEF or somewhere said that, I would love seeing some guy stand up and..... do something drastic. It would truly be high comedy. Let’s just sayt never occurs to them that THEY should be one of the ones going away.
“At the beginning of WWII the Brits euthanized a lot of pet dogs and cats.”
The whole island was on near starvation rations then and U-boats were sinking anything getting close.
Horrors! Ping!
Thank goodness American cats have the 2A.
Came here to post that, but it’s been handled.
Of course they don’t say WHO in the government brought forth such an idea.
And blaming this on “well, we did not know much about the virus back then” is so incredibly cowardly. There was enough known back then that cats as a vector for transmission was low, very low.
Of course that did not stop multiple people on the FR daily COVID-19 threads back in February / March / April 2020 from getting in a tizzy about pets being carriers for COVID-19. And you know who you are. I hope you’re not as ignorant now as you were back in early 2020 (e.g. disinfecting mail, etc).
They’ll take my cats from my cold, dead hands.
They briefly considered it, then chose to live instead.
Shakespeare: “First you kill all the cats”
Some ancient studies believe that the ancestors of today's felix domesticus came down from the hills and ingratiated themselves to former hunter gatherers turned farmers by keeping the mice out of their grain storage.
Dogs became man's best friend perhaps at the hunter-gatherer stage by assisting him on the hunt. They were initially beasts of burden and a source of food.
I almost don’t have a problem with that. /S
“They would have to come through me to get my cats. It would be costly”
ditto ...
The UK has the same problem we do.
It’s now controlled by its Deep State.
And theirs is just as evil as ours.
The only difference is that the UK doesn’t have a Trump to stand between the citizenry and Deep State.
