WASHINGTON, March 1 (Reuters) - The United States is sounding out close allies about the possibility of imposing new sanctions on China if Beijing provides military support to Russia for its war in Ukraine, according to four U.S. officials and other sources.

The consultations, which are still at a preliminary stage, are intended to drum up support from a range of countries, especially those in the wealthy Group of 7 (G7), to coordinate support for any possible restrictions.

It was not clear what specific sanctions Washington will propose. The conversations have not been previously disclosed.

The U.S. Treasury Department, a lead agency on the imposition of sanctions, declined to comment.

Washington and its allies have said in recent weeks that China was considering providing weapons to Russia, which Beijing denies. Aides to U.S. President Joe Biden have not publicly provided evidence.

Oh great. If everybody is enjoying supply chains right this minute, just wait till Biden starts his handiwork.

Basically what can hurt the US most without any detrimental impact on Biden’s Chinese masters.

Sanctions on China will cut into the profits of those that control the politicians.

Very few politicians will touch China. Many will make noises about it though, but it won’t happen.

The homos at the Lincoln Project must have thrown a hissy fit at Biden’s last cocktail party. Left-wing politics just isn’t being crammed down the world’s throat fast enough. Time for all the globalists to circle the wagons.

Should sanction Chicoms even if Russia didn’t start the war.

Just out tariffs on Chinese goods. Sanctions are a waste of time.

In addition to Biden wanting to raise SS age, increase loan rates, and now this to also add to inflation. Brandon might be the worst pandemic ever inflicted upon the nation

Sanctions may be a waste of time, but in general they hurt the citizens more than the govt. In their own way are an act of war. The domino effect does damage, worsens relations, etc

This administration is war thirsty. They have absolutely no negotiating skills. No ability to communicate. They are behaving like a teenager with raging hormones. Their foreign policy is not just sloppy, it’s very dangerous.

The kind of lunacy which led the US to invade Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. Victoria Nuland and company want to show their rear ends to Russia, even if it makes China align with Russia. They thought it was clever to destroy Nordstream, and now Germany (which needed Nordstream) is moving manufacturing to China. Biden seems to approve but does not know what he is doing.

Don't we need China to buy our Treasury notes?

And doesn't China manufacture much of our medicine, medical supplies, computers, cell phones, and who knows what else?

If we hit China with sanctions, don't they have much they can hit us back with?

It'd be different if we had put American workers first, and still had a strong manufacturing base. But too late to cry about that now.

Biden seems to approve but does not know what he is doing.

I'm sure that's literally true. He signs whatever's placed in front of him, without a clue as to what's in it.

In a sense, there's not point in hating Biden. You don't hate a senile puppet. It's the puppeteers who are to blame.

When is the U.S. hegemonical mind going to come to grips with the fact that things are like they used to be?
