The way to catch herds of wild hogs involves feeding them first, get them used to free food, and then bit by bit build the corrals ... when at last the gates are closed the once free have become just property to be slaughtered.

While there may have been useful idiots helping advance welfare states I do not believe in the good intentions of those calling the dance ... and that includes Social Security.

The politicians have been raiding the Social Security coffers for 50 years.

Social Security isn’t supposed to be a pension plan. And no one over 40 is likely to be affected by any age raising anyways. The last one was in the 80s so my standard benefit age is 66 and 8 months versus 65. It’s been 40 years almost.

When SS started, half of the people died before they could get something.

You don’t think democrats will take any blame for raising the age for SS or investing in stocks instead of keeping it in the “lockbox” the dems claim they keep it in. LOL The stupid party always walks right into their traps.

If the GOP persists in pushing this issue before the 2024 election they will give the RATS the reason they will use to explain why we lost instead of the real reason we actually will lose which is that they rigged it again.

I like it. I’d also include a feature where the player has the option to pay more for the ticket, but can then wear a sap glove or mailed gauntlet to collect the prize.

Too bad stocks are tied to the economy, eh! Economy is exactly what the Democrats destroy to control us and, through insider trading, get rich off of our oppression. A win-win for them a lose-lose for us. Tie it to gold, instead.

Didn’t (Hasn’t?) Galveston County, Texas, opt(ed) out of Social Security years ago and see retirees’ checks in the low thousand dollar per month range?

A lot of us are “geezers” and CBO says:

In CBO’s projections, the Social Security area population increases from 336 million people in 2023 to 373 million people in 2053. As growth of the population age 65 or older outpaces growth of younger age groups, the population is projected to continue to become older.

Population Growth. Population growth is generally projected to slow between 2023 and 2053, averaging 0.3 percent per year over that period. That growth will be increasingly driven by immigration as fertility rates remain below the rate that would be required for a generation to exactly replace itself in the absence of immigration.
cbo.gov/publication/58612

Hold your nose and look up “Gray Panthers.” They are Left leaning. Not my cup of tea.

Also, many millions of current oldsters used to be in SDS, Weatherman, antiwar groups or simply were hippies and remember the smell of tear gas and the stench of burning police cars and remember the Weather Undergound bombs blowing up buildings.

How about cops, firefighters, teachers, and all others on public pensions?

What is good for one is good for all. Isn’t it?

Let’s just make it all the same and just. How about it?

What about all the able bodied on any degree of disability payments? Surely they can do something?

It can be fixed but ALL need to participate.

I delayed my own retirement 6 years to better make ends meet. Others can do the same.

Touching public employees packages is a third rail issue for politicians. Even worse than term limits.

Just like so many have with their 200.5k account.

Lambs to slaughter.

Not saying it is all a bad idea but lets stack the deck for the folks instead of Wall Street this time with some simplified investment guidance instead of the divide and conquer free for all.

That’s exactly the way it was when they came up with it. They didn’t expect people to live even longer.

S0 many think it is a retirement plan. It was set up to pay for your basics. Not mortgages, car payments, kids in college, vacations, etc.

And besides, Ponzi Schemes don’t make money. They just redistribute...
