I don’t know for sure but I’ve read we want him to stay in office...


As long as he’s in the hospital, he is one less vote for the dems. His resignation would trigger an appointment by the governor of someone who will vote for the dems.

It’s an interesting situation. He can’t be forced to resign and for the time being his incapacity actually is helpful for our side.

That all said, fate has dealt him quite a blow. Wins nomination to a Senate seat he is likely to win and shortly after he has a stroke that renders him unable to actually serve as a Senator. I don’t blame him for being depressed—if that is really what he is being treated for.
